Religious Education at St Bartholomew’s
At St Bartholomew’s, Religious Education (RE) is an important part of our curriculum and helps children to flourish academically, spiritually and personally. Guided by our vision, “Follow Jesus in all we do,” RE encourages children to explore faith, ask big questions and develop respect for the beliefs and experiences of others.
Rooted in our Christian foundation, RE is shaped by our values of Courage, Friendship, Service, Forgiveness, Justice and Love. Through these values, children learn to think deeply, act kindly and understand how they can make a positive difference in the world around them.
At St Bart’s, we follow the Questful RE curriculum, developed by Blackburn Diocese. Questful RE encourages children to be curious, reflective and thoughtful learners, providing opportunities to explore Christianity in depth while developing understanding of other faiths and worldviews. Through enquiry, discussion and reflection, children are encouraged to ask meaningful questions, consider different perspectives and make connections between learning and their own lives.
As children progress through school, they build a secure understanding of key beliefs, teachings and practices, while developing the confidence to explore life's deeper questions. Learning is enriched through visits, visitors and our strong links with St Bartholomew’s Church.
RE makes a significant contribution to children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, helping them become thoughtful, respectful and responsible members of society. We are an inclusive school where children of all faiths and none, are encouraged to share their views in a safe and respectful environment.
At St Bart’s, we want every child to leave with a strong understanding of Christianity, an appreciation of diverse beliefs and the confidence to think deeply, act kindly and contribute positively to the world around them.
