Welcome to Nursery
Welcome to our Nursery at St Bartholomew’s CE VA Primary School. We are delighted that you are considering joining our school family.
We provide a warm, happy and nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued and ready to begin their learning journey. Starting Nursery is an important milestone and we are proud to support children as they take this exciting first step
Our commitment to nursery children is founded on our whole school vision to provide every child with a world-class education within a nurturing Christian environment.
We ensure that all children are happy and socially and emotionally confident so they can flourish during these important early years.

Our Nursery
At St Bart’s, children benefit from:
- A fully qualified teacher and experienced staff
- Small group sizes and a key worker approach
- High-quality indoor and outdoor provision
- Ongoing investment in resources
- Strong partnerships with parents and carers
- A focus on learning through play and exploration
Our small groups allow us to tailor learning to each child’s needs and interests, helping them grow in confidence and independence.
We use the Tapestry app alongside events such as Stay and Learn sessions so families can share in their child’s experiences and learning.
We would love to welcome you and your child to our Nursery. Please get in touch to find out more or arrange a visit.

WHY ST BART’S NURSERY?
Learning and Care
We understand that starting Nursery can feel like a big step for both children and families. Our caring team works closely with you to ensure that every child settles happily and confidently. We create a calm, secure environment where children feel understood and ready to learn—because we know that happy children thrive.
As a Church of England school, our Christian values underpin all that we do. We encourage children to show kindness, respect and compassion, helping them to develop a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
We place a strong emphasis on positive relationships, wellbeing and communication, ensuring children feel secure, understood and ready to learn.
Children learn through play, exploration and discovery, supported by a carefully planned curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Working with Families
We value strong partnerships with parents and carers and believe that working together is key to every child’s success. We build warm, trusting relationships with our families and are always here to listen, support and share in your child’s journey.
Our dedicated Family Liaison support helps ensure that all families feel welcomed, supported and connected to school life. Whether you have a question, need advice or simply want to share information about your child, we are here for you.
We use the Tapestry app to share regular updates on your child’s learning, including photographs, observations and next steps, so you can see and celebrate their progress. In addition, we provide opportunities and family events allow you to experience learning alongside your child.
Through daily communication, shared experiences and strong relationships, we work in close partnership with you to ensure every child feels happy, settled and excited to come to Nursery each day.
The Start of a Journey
Children can join St Bart’s Nursery from the age of three, with a range of flexible sessions available to meet the needs of our families. We offer both 15 and 30 hours funded places, along with the option to access additional sessions (where availability allows) through paid provision.
We see Nursery as the very beginning of a special journey, where children take their first steps into school life in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment. Our experienced team works closely with each child to help them settle quickly, build confidence and develop a love of learning from the very start.
As part of St Bartholomew’s, our Nursery provides a strong foundation for the years ahead. Through familiar routines, caring relationships and shared experiences, we prepare children both socially and emotionally for their next stage of learning, ensuring a smooth and confident transition into our Reception class in line with our school admissions arrangements.
