Assessment is completed in school to find out if our children are working at age expectations and what the next steps are going to be in their learning. As the curriculum is changed, we will be changing how we assess our children. As stated above we have decided to use the resources for planning produced by Lancashire as a basis for our curriculum and this will guide the assessment development which matches up to what we are expecting our children to do with regard to the new curriculum. All subjects are assessed regularly through ongoing teacher assessments using the outcomes of work, observations and discussion with our children to inform this.
Target Tracker is the assessment program that we use within school and is used by the teachers to track each child’s progress. Every term each teacher meets with members of the Senior Leadership Team to discuss the pupils within their class. During this time we use the assessment program to look at each child’s progress and attainment. The program allows us to see any difficulties or strengths as they arise. Each teacher then adapts the planning or support to address any difficulties immediately.
We chose this software as it is used in over 4000 schools and has been proven to be an effective tool for schools to use in closely monitoring children’s progress and attainment.
If you would like to know more about it and how we use it, please do get in touch.
